Over almost eight decades, since it emerged and spread through the hands of the Rei do Baião, the musical style, which is one of the main symbols of the Northeast, has undergone transformations in the way it is produced and enjoyed. The accordion, triangle and bass drum gained musical elements from axé, pop and electronic music. Productions started to take something beyond the trivial to the stage.
