Friendly Dictionary is the companion app to the Friendly Store seasonal-food calendar. It turns a month on the wall into a guide you can carry: which fruits, vegetables and seafood are at their best right now in the United States, which states grow or land them, and how to buy, keep and cook them.
WHAT'S INSIDE
- Seasonal dictionary — 150+ ingredients, month by month. Tap any month to see what is in season, then open an ingredient for its peak window, leading producing states, nutrition, storage tips and a short story of how it is grown or caught.
- Honest seasons — every season is drawn from USDA and NOAA statistics, state crop profiles and university extension guides, and each entry says where its season came from. When we could not find authoritative data, the entry says so.
- Today's Special — one in-season ingredient a day on the home screen.
- Favorites and grocery memo — save ingredients and recipes, keep a shopping list, and log what you cooked with Yummy.
- AI Chef — type the ingredients you have and get recipe ideas built around what is in season this month.
- Food Album — sorts the food photos already on your phone into an album by dish. Photos are analyzed on your device and never uploaded.
GOOD TO KNOW
Friendly Dictionary is made for owners of the Friendly Store printed calendar. Creating an account requires the one-time PIN printed on the calendar, and access runs through December 31 of the calendar's edition year. The app itself is free.
Photo access is used only for Food Album and only on your device. AI Chef sends the ingredient text you type — nothing else — to generate recipes.
