Sleepy Clock is a bedside alarm clock for kids — a wake up clock for a child who cannot read the time yet. It is a toddler clock with no numbers on it: a moon means it is still sleeping time, a sun means it is OK to get up.

You choose the times. The sky does the rest.

WHAT THEY SEE
Stand the phone on the nightstand and the screen becomes a sky. From bedtime onwards it is a moon and a field of stars. As the morning you set arrives, the moon gives way to a sun — blue, then gold, then orange — and the caption underneath changes from "Still sleeping time" to "OK to get up". Nothing to read, nothing to tap, no digits anywhere. A child who cannot yet read a clock can look across a dark room and have the answer in a second.

WHAT YOU SET
Four phases — Night, Dawn, Early Morning and Morning — and you decide when each one begins. A household that starts at 6:30 and one that starts at 7:15 get the same sun and moon clock, set to their own hours. Bedtime looks the same every night; morning is the part you move.

THE ALARM
Sleepy Clock is an alarm clock for kids first, and it behaves like one: it rings, it snoozes, it dismisses, and it shows itself over the lock screen. What is different is the wake window. Instead of one fixed minute you give the alarm a window — 6:45 to 7:05, say — and it rings at a moment drawn at random inside it. The reason is worth knowing: when the minute is never the same twice, nobody in the house learns exactly when the sun is due, so the wake up clock stays a signal rather than a countdown. Every alarm is queued a week ahead, so it still rings if the phone restarts in the night.

BEDSIDE MODE
The screen stays awake all night and drops to about five per cent brightness, with the status bar out of the way. Readable in a dark bedroom, and not bright enough to be a lamp.
