About this game

You are the electrician. Here is the board. Make it work.

Fuse Box is a puzzle game about something real: distributing electrical load across a consumer unit. Every job hands you a building full of things that need power and a rail of breakers to feed them from. Get it right and the main switch closes and everything runs. Get it wrong and you watch it trip.

HOW A JOB GOES

1. Read the plan - every room, every load, every watt
2. Open the board - see the ways you have, their ratings, and which ones have RCD protection
3. Connect the lines - pick a load, tap the breaker it should sit on
4. Run the load check - a full dry run, every way and every fault listed before anything is live
5. Close the main switch - and find out how good your layout really was

THE RULES ARE THE PUZZLE

- A breaker carries watts up to its rating and no further. A 16 A way at 230 V is 3.7 kW.
- Wet rooms, wash bays and outdoor sockets must sit on an RCD-protected way.
- Ovens, welders and EV chargers need a way to themselves. Nothing shares with them.
- Everything passes through the main switch, and the whole board added up has to fit under it.

Any layout that satisfies all four gets the power on. That is one star.

THE OTHER TWO STARS ARE THE REAL GAME

A working board is not a good board. The second star asks that no single way sits above ninety per cent of its rating - real headroom, for the day someone plugs in a heater. The third asks that the load is spread evenly, with less than a third between the busiest way and the quietest.

That is where it gets interesting. Consolidating three small loads onto one way often beats spreading them across three. An unused breaker costs you nothing; an unbalanced one costs you a star.

FORTY-EIGHT BOARDS, FOUR KINDS OF SITE

- Garage - one EV charger that eats most of the supply, and everything else fitting around it
- Small Factory - a production hall squeezed onto a single-phase board

Every board is generated backwards from a known-good wiring plan, so a clean solution always exists. There are no unfair jobs.
