Markdown MD Editor is a markdown editor, viewer and reader for the .md files already sitting on your phone. Open a markdown file, see it rendered instead of as raw syntax, edit it, and save it straight back to the same file in the same place. No account. No upload. No new home for your notes.

📂 File-first, not app-first

Most note apps want you to paste your writing into their database. If you already keep notes, READMEs, drafts or documentation as markdown files, that is backwards. This markdown notes app opens the file where it lives, through your device's standard file picker - local storage, or a folder already synced to your device - and writes your edits back to that exact path. No copy is made. No duplicate appears in a folder you did not choose.

👁 A markdown viewer that actually renders

Rendered markdown means headings at the right size, tables laid out as tables, links you can tap, and bold and italic where you typed them. Switch to edit mode to change the text, switch back to preview to read it. It is a markdown reader and a markdown editor in the same place, which is all most people wanted from a plain text editor on mobile.

🛡 Save in place, without losing work

Editing the same file in two places is normally how notes get lost. Before saving, the app checks the file on disk. If it changed since you opened it, you are told and asked what to do, instead of the newer version being silently overwritten. If a file becomes unreachable while you are working, you are offered somewhere else to save rather than losing the edit.

Syncing depends on the cloud storage you chose - the app reads and writes what is already on your device or in a folder you already sync, and has no cloud service of its own. And there is no subscription. Saying so up front is easier than disappointing you later.
