Thin Ice is a sliding block puzzle where the blocks change size. Drag each ice block to its matching doorway. The block might not stay the size you found it, and the doorway expects an exact fit.
That's the whole puzzle. Land a block on hot ground and it melts a layer and steps down a size. Land it on frost and it grows the layer back. A block too big for its door can be melted down, but only if there's heat where and when you need it. Too big and the block will not go through. Too small and it won't either.
HOW IT PLAYS
Every board is a rink with exits for the ice blocks. Get all the blocks out and you have won. Lose one and you haven't.
There is a clock on every board, set from the shortest route we could find. It is generous enough to think with and short enough to matter, and it doesn't start until you touch a block, so you can study a board for as long as you like before play begins.
ON THE ICE
You'll find heat and frost, to change a block's size. Thin ice that will bear a small block but not a large one. Snowdrifts to shove aside. Geysers that breathe hot air. Crevasses that will swallow a small block. And many more obstacles to thwart an ice block's journey.
AN ABUNDANCE OF BOARDS
Every one is certified before it ships, so you'll never get a board that can't be solved. The early ones introduce the obstacles one at a time. The later ones mix them up in fiendish ways.
Match (or better!) the shortest route we found and you'll earn a star.
Stuck? Every board has a 'Reveal', an animated run through our best route, completely free in the early boards.
