GeoMol is an educational app designed to support the study of VSEPR theory and molecular geometry through visual, interactive and intuitive tools.
Build molecules, change elements, bond orders and lone pairs, view structures in 3D and compare them with 2D Lewis representations. The app also allows users to explore known molecules and analyze polarity, electron geometry, molecular geometry, bond angles and hybridization.
In addition to the builder mode, GeoMol includes quizzes, guided challenges, a learning profile, molecule comparison, a chemical database and augmented reality visualization on compatible devices.
The app was developed within the context of a master’s program at the University of São Paulo (USP), with the purpose of contributing to the teaching and learning process of VSEPR theory and the spatial representation of molecules and ions.
Ideal for students, teachers and chemistry enthusiasts who want to better understand the relationship between Lewis structures, electron domains, molecular geometry and molecular properties.
