About this app

This App supplies voices for your Android book- and screen-reading software. It is a replacement for your device's existing TTS engine.

The app and almost all of the voices were developed by blind programmers. The special feature of the app is that it starts speaking instantly. This is very important for blind users of Android devices. If you are not blind you will not need this feature, but please do use our voices.

Our English voices were one of the first ones developed and are not as good quality as other languages. The focus was, for a long time, on supplying voices to languages which had no Google TTS voice. We hope soon, though, that device developers will start making better English voices and give them to use to publish. If you are on WhatsApp, subscribe to our channel to know when this happens.

We do have a good Mexican Spanish voice, and soon it will be capable of switching between Spanish and English.

It costs us money to keep the app operational and so some voices require a paid subscription. If you are blind and cannot use Google Pay, please contacts us at support@rhvoice.com.

Pretty decent with a few issues. The English voices don't feel as high quality as the rest. The voices in other languages can be used to read English text pretty well, but because there is no option to have them read numbers in English, they can't be used in place of the English voices. The biggest problem and reason I don't use this as my main talkback speech engine is the fact that all of the voices seem to have issues reading some of the letters on the keyboard, namely q g m and n.

Yes, the English voices are old. We are hoping makes a better one soon. People have been concentrating on building voices for under-served languages. Ir you use another language to speak keyboard letters on an English phone, you may hear the voice's language version of those letters.

Yay for alternatives, and thank you for your efforts. It's just not usable as is, though. The voices are worse than Google's. Google had awesome, realistic voices, then took them away because it freaked people out. I'd give anything for an engine that actually talked like a person, not a robot.

Our voices are intended for the blind who use screen-reader software. Our voices are quicker to start speaking than Google's This is important. Also, many Google voices you hear which are natural - they do not work on the phone, only in the cloud servers. They are very expensive to produce and they are not good for local operation on the phone.

i use your Scottish voice (Alan) on my reading app and I love it! Do you need someone to do a New Zealand accent?

G'day! If you want to volunteer yourself or someone, email us: support@rhvoice.com. We can tell you what would be involved. Alan is not properly Scottish because it runs with an American version of English pronunciation. Not sure if it will handle your "ten to six" vowels.
