Golf Royal is played with 52 cards and a joker. The aim of the game is to put all cards on the discard pile and to pass as many rounds as possible.

At the beginning of the game there are seven rows of five cards each on the playing field. Below or next to it are the talon and the discard pile.

The first card of the talon must be turned over and placed on the discard pile. The bottom cards in each row can be played. The cards are placed on the top card of the discard pile in ascending or descending order, regardless of the color.

The joker (wild card) can be placed at any time, any card can be placed on the joker. When no more moves are possible, a card from the talon can be placed on the discard pile. The game is over when all cards from the talon are used up and no other moves are possible. When all 35 cards have been placed on the discard pile, a new round begins and the points continue to count.
