About this game

A turn-based roguelike where you explore dark rooms and defeat enemies using your magic lamp's abilities. Explore each level one room at a time searching for enemies hidden in the darkness. Choose your path through the depths encountering unique enemies in varied environments. Find artifacts that will help you and defeat bosses to steal their powers to upgrade your lamp. Make difficult decisions as you face progressively tougher and numerous enemies. Can you make it to the end?

Lamplight is an elaboration of a game of the same name built in 48 hours for the Ludum Dare 39 game jam. I'm pretty proud of how far it has come since then, and I have enjoyed pushing the limits of the basic premise. Ratings and reviews

Fun, position-heavy strategy roguelike A good entry in the chesslike subsubgenre alongside Hoplite et al. Position matters and you choose which lamp ability to use in what situation, while juggling health and battery. The UI could use a little polish, like indicating when an enemy is stunned or when an ability is active, but that's easy to overlook because it's a fun play.

Fantastic game. I love the hex map, I think it was a great decision, and the variety of the levels and bosses really makes you think in order to survive. My all time favorite part is the music, whoever made it matched the genre and feel of this game perfectly.

Lamplight is an excellent positional roguelike, but I feel that the game is a little too easy as it is. It likely could use a hunger clock type of mechanic or some other interesting game mechanic to throw the player off balance. As it is now, one will complete this roguelike quickly and then move on.
