About this app

This is a Gene Search application that allows users to search and explore genetic information from both human and mouse genomes.
The app features:
1. Clean, intuitive interface for searching genes by name or symbol
2. Toggle between human and mouse species for targeted searches
3. Detailed gene information pages showing descriptions, functions, genomic locations, and aliases
4. Ability to save favorite genes for quick access - Recent search history tracking
5. Integration with NCBI's genetic database for accurate, up-to-date information The app has two main tabs
6. Search tab for finding genes and a Favorites tab for accessing saved genes. It's designed with a clean, light interface using soft blue as the primary color.
7. RNA Sequence Reference Numbers (RefSeq)
8. RNASequence interface to track RNA sequences with accession numbers, types, and lengths
9. Displays RNA sequences in the gene detail page with:
- RefSeq accession numbers (NM_, NR_, XM_, XR_)
- Sequence type badges (mRNA, ncRNA, Predicted RNA)
- Sequence length in base pairs

• Security — NCBI API credentials moved out of the source code into local environment config; key rotated.
