About this app

Got Stripes is a study app for police officers getting ready for a promotional or certification exam. It covers New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida and Texas. You pick your state the first time you open it and can switch in Settings whenever you want.

NOT A GOVERNMENT APP
Got Stripes is an independent study aid from AAK Studio LLC. It does not represent any government entity and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any state agency, attorney general, police training commission or academy. Nothing in it is legal advice. Statutes and case law change, so check the sources listed below before you rely on anything here.

SOURCES
This is the complete list of sources for everything summarized in the app:
• New Jersey statutes: https://www.njleg.gov
• New Jersey Attorney General guidelines: https://www.nj.gov/oag/dcj/agguide.htm
• New Jersey court opinions: https://www.njcourts.gov
• New York laws (New York State Assembly): https://nyassembly.gov/leg/
• New York court decisions (Unified Court System opinions, archived by the nonprofit Free Law Project): https://www.courtlistener.com/?court=ny
• Pennsylvania consolidated statutes: https://www.palegis.us/statutes/consolidated
• Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure (Pennsylvania Code): https://www.pacodeandbulletin.gov
• Pennsylvania courts: https://www.pacourts.us
• Florida Statutes: https://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes

• Texas statutes: https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov
• Texas courts: https://www.txcourts.gov
• U.S. Supreme Court opinions: https://www.supremecourt.gov
Everything in the app, including the topics and case names below, comes from these sources only.

WHAT EACH STATE COVERS
• New Jersey: Title 2C, Title 39, the Attorney General Guidelines and New Jersey case law.
• New York: Penal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Vehicle and Traffic Law, the De Bour street-encounter tiers and New York case law.
• Pennsylvania: the Title 18 Crimes Code, the Title 75 Vehicle Code, the Rules of Criminal Procedure, the Municipal Police Jurisdiction Act and Pennsylvania case law.
• Florida: the criminal, traffic and procedure chapters of the Florida Statutes, the Popple encounter levels and Florida case law.
• Texas: the Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure (including Article 38.23), the Transportation Code and Texas case law.

HOW YOU STUDY
• More than 2,700 multiple-choice questions across the five states. Every one has an explanation, and you see it as soon as you answer.
• Timed practice exams: 25 questions in 30 minutes, 70% to pass, then a review of what you missed.
• Scenarios that walk you through a call and ask what you would charge and why.
• Case law breakdowns that give you the facts, the holding, why it matters and the exam trap.
• A statute reference you can search by section number or keyword, with grading, elements and exam notes.
• Memory tools for each state: acronyms, charge-elevation ladders, quick sheets, decision trees and a field reference.
• Definitions decks, fill in the blank and a matching game.
• A Missed Queue that brings back the questions you got wrong until you get them right.

KEEPING TRACK
Readiness score, focus areas, rank and streaks are kept separately for each state. Study progress is stored on your phone. There are no ads.

The Duty Hub is a separate tool for the job itself: a shift calendar and a paycheck estimator you set up with your own numbers.

GOT STRIPES PRO
The statute reference is free in every state, and so is one 5-question set per module each day. Pro opens the rest in all five states.
• Pro Monthly and Pro Yearly renew automatically. You can manage or cancel them in Google Play under Payments & subscriptions.
• Pro Lifetime is a one-time purchase.
The app shows the price before you buy. New subscribers may be offered a free trial.
