Stitchmint turns your photos and illustrations into cross stitch patterns.
■ From photo or illustration to pattern
• Choose the width and height in stitches, the number of colors (2–40) and the fabric count (11, 14, 16 or 18 ct)
• Preview the pattern and the finished stitching live as you change the settings
• See the finished size (cm) before you start
• Pick out an object with AI to crop it, erase it or leave it unstitched (the AI runs on your device)
• Crop the photo, adjust brightness, contrast and saturation, and remove the background
• Switch on "Reduce single stitches", "Dither (for photos)" or "Sharp outlines (for illustrations)"
■ Color in line art
• Load black-and-white line art and start from a pattern with just the black outline
• Pick a thread and tap an area enclosed by lines to fill it
■ Edit the pattern
• Draw, erase and pick colors: one stitch at a time, in a rectangle, or by filling a same-color area (brush size 1–16 stitches)
• Draw backstitch lines, or add them automatically around the stitched area or between colors
• Start from a blank grid
• Undo
■ Thread numbers and skeins
• Each color gets a stranded cotton floss number (DMC numbering)
• Paste the thread numbers you own to make the pattern with only those threads
• Stitch count per color, an estimate of skeins needed (8 m skein, 2 strands) and the total
• Merge similar colors, or swap a color for another thread from the thread chart
• Mark a background color as "not stitched" to leave the fabric bare (you can switch it back)
■ Track as you stitch
• Switch between the pattern (colors and symbols) and a preview of the finished stitching
• Pinch to zoom. Mark finished stitches by swiping, in a rectangle, or by same-color area
• Stitches done and progress (%) for each color
■ Export
• Save the pattern as an image
• Share the pattern as an image with friends
• Back up and restore your patterns
• Printable PDF: split across A4 or Letter pages with 10-stitch grid lines and page numbers, in color or black and white (symbols only) (Pro)
■ Samples
• Three sample patterns are included (a photo, a painting and a coloring page). Samples don't count toward the 3 free patterns
■ Pro (one-time purchase)
• Printable PDF and saving more than 3 patterns are Pro
• Pro also removes the ads
• Everything else works without Pro
■ Your data
• Photos and patterns stay on your device. No account is needed, and the AI selection runs on your device.
Notes
• DMC is a trademark of DMC. This app is not affiliated with DMC.
• Screen colors may look different from real thread. Skein counts are estimates.
• Backups hold the pattern only, not the original photo, so a pattern loaded from a backup can't be remade with a different size or colors.
• Restoring a backup of a pattern already on the device replaces it. Restored patterns (including the built-in samples) count toward the 3 free patterns.
• Saved patterns use storage inside this app, even with Pro. If it fills up, the app tells you. Export backups and delete patterns you no longer need.
• If something doesn't work, feel free to email contact@gramshift.com.
