It seems to be pretty accurate...though some things are overly sensitive. Every time I back into my driveway, it records it has a "sudden brake" episode. Also, it would be wonderful if there was an option to select for each trip that a passenger is using your phone, so it doesn't count it as "distracted driving". My phone is connected to my car's Bluetooth, and my wife uses my phone to control the music and apps while I drive. This, of course, is counted by the app as "distracted driving".

Hi Bryan, thanks for sharing your thoughts about OnTrack. Please note that distracted driving is not counted in your score to determine your discount and is only used for coaching good driving behavior within the app. We’ll make sure to share your feedback and ideas with our development team.

Pretty sure the people who made this app have never driven in a city. Literally every "too fast" notification I have is from the normal flow of interstate traffic. Going slower to make the app happy would absolutely cause an accident. Also, like other have said, the acceleration detection on this thing must be broken. It gives "too fast acceleration" notices at perfectly normal acceleration speeds. I was even able to trigger it on a bicycle! Good idea, terrible execution. Needs a lot of work.

Pretty accurate at telling when a car is moving and starting the recording; way too sensitive though. Not sure how you're supposed to brake as softly as they want without getting rear ended or completely obstructing the flow of traffic behind you. Also mistakes turning onto a different road for hard braking sometimes. Since the distracted driving alerts don't count against your score I can't complain too much there, but I think it's odd that hands-free phone calls trigger an alert.

Hi Elysia, thanks for your feedback. Hard braking triggered by a turning event is not usual, but we have seen it from time to time. If you’re fairly new to the program, overtime you’ll see the impact of these events smooth out over the 90-day timeframe. Please contact einfocenter@grangeinsurance.com if you have any additional feedback. Thank you.
