Video Screen Off lets you play video with the screen off so playback keeps going even when you turn off the screen. It is ideal for video podcasts, music videos, lectures, long talks, and other content you want to listen to while the screen is blacked out.

Some video apps pause the video when you turn off the screen. This app allows video playback to continue uninterrupted even when the screen is turned off.

This app does not display any ads, does not collect any information, and does not try to sell you anything. Completely free tool for you to use!

Turn the screen off, put your phone in your pocket, and keep listening without the video pausing. This helps save battery and makes it easier to use media in situations where you do not need to watch the screen.

The app uses a floating lock bubble icon to quickly bring up a black overlay on top of your video, while playback continues underneath. When you want the screen back, unlock with a simple three-tap gesture.

Permissions required and reasons for each permission:

SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW - Needed to show the floating bubble and black overlay on top of other apps.

FOREGROUND_SERVICE - Needed to keep the overlay service running while the app is in the background.

FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE - Needed for the special-purpose foreground service used for screen dimming and overlay control.

POST_NOTIFICATIONS - Needed to show the persistent notification that keeps the service active and accessible.

READ_PHONE_STATE - Needed to detect call state so the overlay can respond appropriately during phone calls.
