Vallamkali is a rhythmic boat race: a rhythm racing game where every tap on the beat rows your snake boat forward.

Inspired by Vallam Kali, the snake boat races of Kerala's Onam season, Vallamkali puts you in charge of a chundan vallam, the long snake boat, and its whole crew. Tap to the beat of the chenda drum and your crew rows as one. Stay on the beat to race past the rival boat. Miss it and the oars clash.

HOW TO PLAY: THE TAP IS THE STROKE
• Lamps float into two rings, one from the left and one from the right. Tap with the thumb on that side as each lamp lands.
• Hit the beat for a PERFECT stroke. A little off is GOOD.
• Gold lamps are power strokes: tap with both thumbs at once.
• Launch on GO with a power stroke to jump ahead of the rival boat.

ROW IN RHYTHM, RACE TO WIN
• PERFECT strokes in a row bring your crew into step, and every stroke pulls harder.
• Keep the streak going to start the Vanchipattu, the traditional boat song, for a burst of speed.
• The music speeds up as the race goes on. Hold your rhythm through the final sprint.

• Lead the Kuttikkara Boat Club back to glory in a story campaign.
• Race through 8 knockout cups, from the Village Cup to the Punnamada Trophy.
• Every rival crew races you back: they dig in when you lead and fight for every metre.

• Earn coins in every race and upgrade your boat in the Boatyard: hull, oars, launch crew, song leader, chenda drummer and more.
• Row the Daily Race every day and build your streak.

• Chenda drums on every beat, the crowd cheering from the banks and the kombu horn at the start.
