This monument is called “Almudaina”, which in Arabic means “citadel”, because it is a fortification that had a defensive use since Antiquity. Since the 10th century, Muslims built a large castle here, next to the bay of Palma de Mallorca. Later, the structure of the Muslim Alcázar was used by the Christian kings. Currently, this Palace-Museum allows us to observe its architectural evolution and admire the collections preserved by National Heritage, the institution in charge of its management.
