Hanout is a cosy pixel-art shop game set in Morocco. Stand behind the counter of a little corner shop, greet the neighbours, hand them what they ask for and count their change in dirhams. Every customer has their own habits, every day brings a surprise, and every level opens a new street of the medina.
SERVE THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
• 24 customers with their own tastes and moods: the grandmother who always wants her mint, the kid with his pocket money, the tourist who tips well
• Pick the right products from the tray, then work the register: total, paid, change
• Keep them happy before their patience runs out
RUN YOUR SHOP
• 136 products to stock, from khobz and msemen to sugar cones, sardines and olive oil
• Buy from the wholesaler, watch your shelves, never run out
• Let your regulars buy on credit in the old notebook... and hope they pay you back
• 26 upgrades: a radio, a TV, a ceiling fan, a lantern, a carpet, a teapot for tea time and many more
A LIVING DAY
• A real day cycle from the morning light to the lamps of the evening
• 13 day events: rush hour, a wedding order, a heat wave, tourists, iftar, a late delivery, a wholesale sale...
• Tea time twice a day: the shopkeeper pours his mint tea and gets his energy back
• An old radio with retro jingles and the call to prayer
TRAVEL ACROSS MOROCCO
• Four cities, four chapters: Marrakech, Fes, Chefchaouen and Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara
• A new shop and a new neighbourhood at every level
• An ending that takes you back home, to your grandfather's hanout
PLAY YOUR WAY
• English or Darija (Moroccan Arabic)
• Short sessions: one day in the shop takes a few minutes
• Plays offline
• No ads, no in-app purchases, no data collected
Made in Morocco, with love for the little shops at the corner of every derb.
Your grandfather's hanout needs you.
