About this app

Halal One is a halal food scanner and ingredient checker for Muslims in Germany and across Europe. Scan a product barcode and see, ingredient by ingredient and E-number by E-number, whether it is halal, haram or doubtful – and how the Islamic schools of thought (madhabs) view it.

WHY HALAL ONE
Most supermarket labels don't say whether a product is halal, and ingredients like gelatine, E471, E120 or flavourings are hard to judge. Halal One checks the full ingredient list for you and explains the reasons, so you can decide with confidence.

FEATURES
• Halal barcode scanner – scan a barcode or type the number to check packaged food
• Ingredient & E-number check – each ingredient marked Halal, Haram or Doubtful
• 5 madhab views – Hanafi, Shafi'i, Maliki, Hanbali and Ja'fari
• Learn the "why" – short explanations for each classification
• AI assistant – ask follow-up questions about halal ingredients
• Discover – halal products found in German stores, shared by the community and checked by our team
• Scan history – see products you checked before
• Guest mode – start scanning without an account

WHAT THE VERDICTS MEAN
• Halal – no problematic ingredients found
• Haram – contains an ingredient the madhabs consider forbidden
• Doubtful – an ingredient's source is unclear (e.g. plant or animal) or not in our database; check for a halal certificate
• Disputed (Scholars Disagree) – the madhabs disagree about an ingredient: one school may consider it halal, another haram or doubtful. Tap it to see which madhabs disagree and why, then follow your own madhab.

WHERE IT WORKS BEST
Product data comes from Open Food Facts, a free public food database. Coverage is best in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Italy, the USA and Canada. In smaller countries, some local products may not be found yet. Discover currently lists products from German stores only. If a product is missing, you can add it to Open Food Facts – once it's added, Halal One can find it too.

IMPORTANT: NOT A HALAL CERTIFICATE
Halal One is an educational tool, not a halal certification body, and is not affiliated with any certifier. Manufacturers change recipes and ingredient sources vary, so we can't guarantee any product is halal. For important decisions, check the official halal logo on the packaging or contact a halal authority.

DATA SOURCES
• Open Food Facts – product and ingredient data
• Islamic research and manual classification – ingredient classification per madhab
• Community – Discover submissions, reviewed before publishing

FREE & PRIVATE
No ads, no tracking, and we never sell your data. AI chat questions are processed by Anthropic (Claude) only to answer them. Full details in our privacy policy.

What’s new

Welcome to HalalOne!

• Scan a product barcode and see if it's halal, haram, doubtful or disputed
• Disputed means the schools disagree. We show it openly instead of picking one answer
• See how all 5 schools (Hanafi, Shafi'i, Maliki, Hanbali, Ja'fari) view each ingredient
• Ask our AI assistant about halal food
• Discover halal products shared by the community

HalalOne is educational, not a halal certificate. When in doubt, ask your scholar.
