Love it This guy actually teaches you how to solve algebraic equations very easily. I was surprised at how well this worked out that I bought the next lesson. We'll see if its worth the money or not tho [Adding to my previous statement. If I was you I'd just go straight to the paid version of the lite only because he teaches you a few extra tricks the lite version doesn't but they are practically the same so if you don't really feel like repeating the lite version you could just skip hands on 1 and go straight to 2

Not all correct answers can be chosen 7x=3x+5 for instance has an answer of x=1.25. That however isn't the only problem i came across the choices are limited and the correct answers aren't always applicable to be chosen. Please take another look at your app and the answers. Because i cant get all the answers since they are not always there. I one had a answer of 40 but the highest the scroll bar goes is to 39. Smh.

In Lesson 1, the student mentally tries to figure out the value of the pawn that makes both sides balance by using reasoning or a guess-and-check strategy. The game pieces do not move in this first lesson.

In Lesson 2, the student places the game pieces unto the image of the balance scale to represent both sides of the abstract equation.

In Lesson 3, the student uses "legal moves" with the pawns to simplify and solve for the unknown X.

In Lesson 4,the student learns to use legal moves with the cubes.

Level I of Hands-On Equations consists of six lessons and one review lesson. The student learns to solve equations such as 8+2x+3-x=2x+1 and 2(2x+1)=3x+8. There are more than 80 equations for the student to enjoy and solve!

This app is intended for students who have already completed Level 1 of Hands-On Equations.

In Level 2, the student learns how to solve equations involving the white pawn -- whose name is "star" -- as well as the blue pawn and the red cubes.

The white pawn is an unknown like the blue pawn. The value of the white pawn is the opposite of that of the blue pawn. Hence if x = 3, star = -3.

Since their sum is zero, when the white pawn and the blue pawn occur together on the same side of the scale they may be removed without affecting the balance.

The notation used for the white pawn is that of an x with a crossbar through it. It has the name of “star” since it looks like a star. Later on in the program the students learn to recognize “(-x)” as another name for star.

In Level 2 students learn to solve equations such as 4x+(-x)+1=2x+5 and 2x-(-x)=12.

## Hands-On Equations 3

This Hands-On Equations Level 3 app is intended for students who have already completed Level 1 and 2 of Hands-On Equations and who would like the challenge of more sophisticated equations involving negative numbers.

In Level 3, the student solves equations such as 4x – (-4) = -8 and 3(-x) + 2 = -10 + x, which contain negative constants. The green numbered cube, which represents the opposite of the red numbered cube, is introduced at this level.

Since the red and green number cubes are opposite of each other, when they are together on the same side of the balance, their value is zero and may therefore be removed without affecting the balance.
