About this app

HarpApp is a practice assistant for players of the 10-hole diatonic (Richter) harmonica. It listens through your microphone, analyses the pitch of what you play in real time, and shows which note you played, how far off you are, and how cleanly it sounds.

WHY IT HELPS
The hardest part of learning harmonica is hearing yourself accurately. Did you bend far enough? Is that vibrato, or just an unsteady note? Are you playing a single hole, or are the neighbours sounding too? HarpApp does not leave these to guesswork — it puts a measured answer on the screen.

MAIN FEATURES
- Real-time note detection — the note name, its frequency and how many cents you are off target, as you play.
- Clarity meter — measures how cleanly you are playing a single note. A low reading means the neighbouring holes are sounding too.
- Harmonica view — all 10 holes, with blow, draw, bends, overblow and overdraw notes colour-coded. Tap the cells to hear them.
- TAB practice mode — type or load a tab sequence and the app follows you note by note, advancing when you hit the right one and reminding you of the target when you miss. Chords supported.
- Technique checking — for bends, vibrato, warbles and glissandi, the app does not only ask whether the right note came out. It checks the technique itself: how far the pitch travelled in a bend, whether the vibrato really oscillates, how often a warble alternated.
- Metronome — with time signatures, an optional count-in, and a beat that stays locked to the music.
- Listen and read — hear how a piece sounds before you practise it, with a staff that scrolls along as you play.
- Record and replay — hear yourself back at 0.5x, 0.75x or normal speed, which helps with fast passages. The recording keeps your timing, your bends, how hard you played and the techniques it detected.
- Save to file — keep your work as a TAB text or a song file on your device.
- Song library — ready-made tab sequences, loaded into practice with one tap. A piece you have opened once stays available offline.
- Chord detection (beta) — recognises playable chords rather than guessing, and says nothing when it is not certain. You can train it on your own harmonica.
- Studio — a computer piano-roll editor, paired to your phone with a code, for writing your own tabs.
- Scales and circle of fifths — major, blues (1st, 2nd and 3rd position), harmonic minor, hicaz and minor. The view dims so you can see which holes belong to the scale.
- Every harmonica key from Low G to High G, with all note names transposing automatically — written as C D E, Do Re Mi, or German notation with H.
- Eight instrument sounds, light and dark themes, English and Turkish interface.

PRIVACY
HarpApp asks for microphone permission because it cannot work without analysing what you play. Audio is processed ONLY on your device and only in real time. No audio recording is ever created and no sound is ever sent to a server: the record function saves note data — which hole, when, how long — not the sound itself.

The app requires no account and no sign-up. It collects no location, contacts, advertising or device identifier, and contains no advertising or analytics SDKs.

Some features do talk to a server. A subscription is verified through Google Play: the app sends the purchase token and keeps a session key, with no name involved. Library pieces come from our server, and if you rate or study one that is stored against your account (the date only, never the time of day). An email address is asked for in one place only, the Studio editor, so the pairing has an owner. You can delete your account and all of it from inside the app, or from kutucuk.com.tr.

Apart from the library, the subscription check and Studio, no internet connection is needed: detection, the grid, the tuner, the metronome and practice all work offline.

What’s new

HarpApp 3.31 — Slide to play, tongue techniques, audio

- Play by sliding your finger across the grid. Sliding up or down within a hole bends the note — the pitch glides without breaking.
- Fixed a missing note in the tongue-slap chord on chromatic harmonicas.
- Bend glides can now be chosen on draw 1, 4 and 6; holes that cannot bend no longer get one.
- Tongue techniques carry their own names: Tongue Slap and Chord Pull.
- The volume keys now work while listening from the library.
