About this app

In Nigeria, young people do not have safe spaces, spaces that allow for self-expression, and there is a huge lack of exposure, information, and psychosocial support on mental health and mental health-related issues. As a result, millions live with unspoken trauma, internal battles, and no roadmap for healing or growth.

At HAVEN, we’re changing that.
We exist to transform how young Nigerians understand, access, and experience mental health care, starting with those in tertiary institutions.

Our work is rooted in one core belief: healing begins with honesty, safety, and support. We meet young people where they are, then guide them toward the help they need through three key interventions:

1. Stories:
We turn real issues into powerful narratives that are relatable, emotionally honest, and educational. These stories help young people see themselves, learn from others, and begin to process their own experiences in a safe, engaging way.

2. AskHaven (Q&A):
A judgment-free space where young people ask questions anonymously and receive clear, compassionate answers from licensed mental health professionals. It’s the bridge between confusion and clarity, fear and relief.

3. Therapy & Consultations:
From live chat support to in-person sessions, we connect youths to qualified professionals who walk with them through grief, trauma, anxiety, or any other challenge they’re facing.

Why this matters:
Young Nigerians rarely access mental health support, not because they don’t need it, but because they fear stigma, can’t afford help, or don’t know where to start. For students in higher institutions, this crisis is even more urgent: there is no structured system to support their mental health.

This is where we come in. HAVEN is building that structure; one story, one question, one healing conversation at a time.
