I actually feel bad for Homeland. I’ve spent some time using their new app, and it works pretty well. I especially like the barcode scanner—it lets you quickly check prices, similar to Walmart’s app. Out of curiosity, I scanned a handful of common household items and compared prices between Homeland and Walmart. Not everything showed up in the app, but for the items that did, the price differences were pretty noticeable. I’m not talking about 5–10%—it was more like 25–35% higher.

apparently you need an app to use your phone number in the store now, so I did just to get it to work & immediately uninstalled this 💩. STOP. MAKING. EVERYTHING. REQUIRE. AN. APP.

If the coupons worked as well online as they do in the app and if the online ad display worked on my phone, I'd avoid this app entirely. The app is a glorified front end for the website. Doesn't even put out the new ad until the day it starts unlike previous when you could see it online a day in advance. The app works well enough to solve self inflicted problems that didn't need to exist, almost like change for the sake of change regardless of how it would impact customers.
