HCE Test Tool is a developer utility for testing contactless payment application integrations in controlled environments. It uses Android host card emulation to present synthetic test card profiles to a compatible NFC reader or payment terminal.
Choose a bundled Visa, Mastercard, or American Express profile and start an emulation session. HCE Test Tool records the APDU exchange, validates the observed flow, and presents the result in a structured form for further analysis.
Card profiles and test security data:
- EMV and legacy contactless test profiles
- synthetic physical-card-style and tokenized test scenarios
- profile-specific test guidance and Test PIN information
- card-profile defaults that preserve the standard behavior
- optional custom test-security data for supported profiles
- application cryptogram keysets
- offline data authentication test keys
- Visa MSD dCVV and Mastercard MSI CVC3 test values where supported
- validation of required values and complete security-data groups
- masked presentation of sensitive test values
Custom test-security data is optional and applies only to the current emulation run. It is kept in memory and is not written to card images, history, diagnostic reports, logs, clipboard output, or Android backups. Production issuer keys and other real payment credentials must never be entered.
APDU inspection and analysis:
- live command and response timeline
- structured command headers and response status words
- BER-TLV parsing and contextual EMV tag descriptions
- DOL, CDOL, TDOL, DDOL, and AFL interpretation
- payment-scheme-specific decoding where the meaning is known
- expandable raw and decoded values
- copying of individual APDUs and decoded values
- expected-flow checks and session validation
- clear completed, failed, and interrupted results
History and reports:
- local history of emulation sessions
- filtering by session result
- persistent notes editable from the result or history detail
- detailed session summaries and APDU exchanges
- Markdown, HTML, and PDF diagnostic reports
- local report saving
- user-initiated sharing through compatible Android applications
- configurable history retention
Guidance and settings:
- separate emulator and test guidance
- explanations of the Emulator, Card profiles, History, and Settings screens
- configurable light, dark, or system appearance
- optional result vibration
- optional emulation start timeout
- controlled NFC routing while an emulation session is active
- settings designed to preserve the default behavior unless explicitly changed
Privacy and connectivity:
- no user account required
- no advertising
- no analytics or tracking
- no network connection required
- application data and reports remain local unless the user explicitly shares them
HCE Test Tool contains synthetic test card data only. It does not provide payment, banking, wallet, money-transfer, or other financial services. It cannot be used to make real purchases and is intended exclusively for authorized development, integration testing, and controlled test environments.
Requirements:
- Android device with NFC host card emulation support
- NFC enabled
- compatible external contactless reader or payment terminal configured for testing
Actual behavior depends on the reader, terminal kernel, payment application, selected card profile, and test-host configuration. Authorization and processing performed outside the emulator are not controlled by HCE Test Tool.
