This app definitely needs to have a look alike reference or some other caution advisory. I would not recommend this app because I could see where and inexperienced mushroom forager could get VERY ILL! The app does have nice pictures and is handy if you are out and about without a good field guide to identify some mushrooms.
No substitute for my National Audubon Society book but not too shabby as a quick ref, for most common fungi. I like the favorites, the indexing of edible/non edible, and seasonal hunting index. A page with index of physical identifying characteristics of mushrooms would be helpful as would an customizable journal to record your own discoveries, maybe even with a template to enter specific characteristics, seasonal info, location, substrate, notes and pics.
Irresponsible. Listing toxic mushrooms as edible in some cases whereas your description copied directly from wikipedia states them to be inedible. Someone who doesn't fact check your app is gonna get hurt. There should be laws . . .
Not bad for an app. Would like to see connectivity between species that reference others in their descriptions (ie. Links to inedible look-alikes). Articles section only lists 5 articles when it states 26. Would also be beneficial to list/describe what to look for when trying to identify.
Some of the fungi in the inedible list state that they are edible, others state nothing - not sure why. The pics & descriptions look almost exactly like those in another app too.
It needs to have a look-a-like part in each description. For example how can I tell a false morel apart from a yellow or are there other non-edible mushrooms that look like the one I am reading about and how can I tell them apart.
