When every minute counts, the Delta system can save invaluable time in emergency situations such as fire and suspected drowning. Volunteer private individuals nearby can make a first effort to protect life and property while waiting for the emergency services. Early intervention can be crucial in reducing the consequences of an accident. With the Delta app, it is easy for more people to make a first effort. In the event of an alarm, the app shows a clear map and directions as well as the exact position so that volunteers can arrive quickly. We wholeheartedly believe that every person can be a good neighbor who can make a difference and we know that the desire to help is great.

Delta is for those over 18 years of age who can and want to make a first effort in the event of a fire and suspected drowning. It is voluntary, free of charge and an opportunity to help your fellow human beings and contribute to increased safety in society.

What happens when I receive an alarm?

As a Delta volunteer, you act as a private individual and a good neighbor and you have no other powers. You act just as if you happened to pass by an accident and choose to take the first step. Those who register in the app can receive alarms in the event of accidents in the municipalities that are connected to the Delta system.

This applies when you as a volunteer accept an alarm:

• Get to the scene safely and, if possible, take with you, for example, a hand-held fire extinguisher and/or fire blanket, or a lifebuoy in case of drowning.

• Park any vehicle so that the emergency services can arrive.
• Carry out a risk assessment to avoid exposing yourself or others to unnecessary risks.
• If possible, take the first step by rescuing, warning, extinguishing the fire and helping the victim.
• Leave the scene when the emergency services arrive so that they can work in peace and with the best possible conditions.
• It is important that your phone has the correct settings so that you can receive alarms. When you open the app, you will see if you need to adjust any settings.
