All fires are small at first, an early intervention can make a big difference! Feel free to join Delta, an app for those over 18 who can and want to take first action in the event of a fire. It is voluntary, free of charge and an opportunity to help fellow human beings and contribute to increased security.
Rescue Service Väst has always had the ambition to reduce response times and the consequences of accidents. In order to bring about a more significant change in terms of the consequences of accidents, it can be crucial that someone else should have done something before we arrive on the scene. With the Delta app, it is easy for more people to be able to make a first response to a fire before the emergency services arrive.
What about when I get an alarm?
Delta is an app that is based on acting as a private person. As a volunteer, you have no powers beyond what a private person has, you act just as if you happened to pass a fire and choose to do the first thing. As registered in the app and as a volunteer, you receive an alarm in the event of a fire in your immediate area.
When a volunteer accepts an alarm, the following applies:
- The volunteer must get to the site as safely as possible and, if possible, bring their own hand fire extinguisher and/or fire blanket.
- The volunteer places any vehicle so that the emergency services can arrive in a good way.
- The volunteer makes a risk assessment with the aim of not exposing himself or others to unnecessary risks.
- The volunteer can make an initial contribution by rescuing, warning or extinguishing a fire.
- The volunteer leaves when the emergency services arrive so that the emergency services can work in peace with as good conditions as possible.
Delta has been launched in collaboration with Heartrunner Sweden AB, which is also behind Sms-lifesavers.
