The AMAP Safe project for the city of Palermo was created to promptly report the dangers of persistent flooding on Palermo's roads, caused by extraordinary weather events.
For the safety of motorists, a system was installed that can detect even the smallest accumulation of water near the sensors and, when certain alarm thresholds are reached, immediately alert the danger by turning on the flashing lights and sending the alert to the relevant traffic management authorities. Furthermore, through the AMAP SAFE app, users who have consented to the system will be able to receive a notification on their smartphone.
Using the AMAP Safe app, citizens will be able to read any water accumulation for each sensor, view any critical issues reported by the system, and view a photo updated every 5 minutes (15 minutes in the absence of rain).
