AutisMe lets you add those things to your profile so you can always look and remind you and others of your strengths.. If you have had a good day and there is something you really want to remember, just add a new item. If you have had a bad day, just look back at all the things you have achieved and everything you are good at…….it does help!
AutisMe can help you grow, record the things you find challenging and things you might want to work on. Your challenges are arranged in simple lists in several categories . People will be able to find out quite quickly how autism affects you and the challenges you face day to day.
When I am stressed I… and Whatever you do don’t…
Explaining what makes you stressed or angry can be very hard, it isn’t always easy to get people to understand how you feel. Sometimes you might show stress in an unusual way. Your way! It is useful for others to know how they can tell you are getting stressed and then what works for you to relieve it.
AutisMe is all about you and it is a great place to store contact information for people close to you or people you can call on for help. To take the worry out of remembering names, telephone numbers and email addresses, we have added a contact feature to AutisMe.
You can store contacts on your device, adding a name, a phone number, an email address and even a photo from your devices camera if you want to. These contacts can be used, added, edited or deleted at anytime.
You can also store an emergency contact who can be called from the app to assist if you need help.

Simply turn on your phone volume and shake the app and it will do the talking. We figured it should work as you might have jitters when you approach someone.
This app also comes with a type to text function, allowing you to type anything you want and let the phone do the talking for you. A good use of this is to type the name of the (girl or guy) you are approaching, type their name, on the screen, press the talk button, and then shake your phone for the pickup line.
It's guaranteed to break the ice and give you all a good laugh. The next steps are up to you.
Utilizing the 5 Point Scale, individuals can easily communicate and regulate their level of anxiety and take appropriate steps to be safe without the need to be verbal. On the first screen levels are color-coded with different facial expressions, increasing based on the emergency or situation. For example, choosing a “1” may mean “I have a scratch on my leg and need a band-aid.” Choosing a “3” may mean “I have a headache and need to use my relaxation exercises.” Choosing a “5” may mean “I’m lost and can’t find my parents! I need a policeman.” Autism Help can be customized to fit an individual’s needs. Levels of “emergencies”, photos and responses can be individualized for each family. Photos of different emergency responders can be taken with your local First Responders so that the individual will recognize them, adding a mothers voice gives the individual immediate recognition to do something to be safe (“go to your safe place”).
Autism Help can also be utilized as a learning tool to help individuals with ASD and other disabilities learn to interact depending upon the severity of the emergency. Photos based on the level of anxiety can be of a 1st responder for 5 or for level 1 a band-aid, or fidget, or stuffed animal, again each level can be customized with photos and voice recognition to make it “Your own“ Autism Help app.
The Autism Society of Minnesota, AuSM® with grant funds from the Minnesota Department of Human Services, developed this app to support our mission of helping families by enhancing the lives of individuals with autism spectrum disorders through education, support, collaboration, and advocacy. Visit our website to learn more about available resources for Emergency Preparedness for families, 1st responders and individuals.
