About this app

Hermes-Android brings your Hermes WebUI workspace to Android without turning it into a separate product.

It keeps Hermes WebUI as the real application surface and adds the Android capabilities that matter on a phone or tablet: a hardened WebView, trusted navigation, native sharing, uploads and downloads, notifications, secure local settings, and recovery paths when the mobile runtime gets in the way.

If Hermes WebUI is the product, Hermes-Android is the native shell that makes it feel at home on Android.

IMPORTANT: Hermes-Android requires a running Hermes WebUI server. This app does not provide AI models, hosted services, cloud infrastructure, or a managed Hermes instance.

WHAT HERMES-ANDROID DOES

Hermes-Android is designed to make your existing Hermes WebUI environment work better on Android.

It provides:

β€’ Secure WebView hosting for trusted Hermes HTTP and HTTPS deployments

β€’ Trusted in-app navigation with external handoff for untrusted links

β€’ Native Android sharing for text and files

β€’ File uploads and downloads

β€’ Camera capture support when requested by trusted Hermes pages

β€’ Microphone support for compatible Hermes workflows

β€’ Android-backed notifications for Hermes alerts

β€’ Pull-to-refresh, loading, offline, and recovery flows

β€’ Persistent login sessions and cookies

β€’ Encrypted local storage for app settings

β€’ Server profile management

β€’ Deep link support for Hermes sessions

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

WHY NOT JUST USE A BROWSER?

Opening Hermes in a mobile browser works, but it is not the same as integrating Hermes properly with Android.

Hermes-Android adds the platform work that a browser tab does not own:

β€’ Host-boundary enforcement

β€’ Android share-sheet intake

β€’ Native uploads, downloads, and capture flows

β€’ Android-backed notifications

β€’ Recovery paths for bad server settings or broken WebView states

β€’ WebView compatibility fixes for Android layout and rendering issues

The goal is not to replace Hermes WebUI.

The goal is to make Hermes WebUI feel first-class on Android.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

BUILT FOR YOUR INFRASTRUCTURE

Hermes-Android works with Hermes WebUI deployments running on:

β€’ Home servers and homelabs

β€’ Local networks

β€’ VPS or dedicated servers

β€’ Docker hosts

β€’ Reverse proxies

β€’ VPNs such as Tailscale

β€’ Cloud-hosted infrastructure

You provide the Hermes server. Hermes-Android gives you a native-feeling Android client for it.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

WHO THIS IS FOR

Hermes-Android is built for:

β€’ Existing Hermes WebUI users

β€’ Self-hosters

β€’ Developers

β€’ AI enthusiasts

β€’ Homelab users
