About this game

Gem Quiz is a calm, offline quiz about precious and semi-precious stones — the way a jeweller's apprentice learns them. Which mineral is ruby a variety of? What sits at 10 on the Mohs scale? Which stone belongs to February?

Four ways to play:
• Identify — a macro photograph of a real specimen; name the stone.
• Classic — colour, hardness, birthstones, classic sources and mineral families.
• Order — sort four stones by hardness, or four famous diamonds by weight.
• True or False — quick statements to sort into fact and fiction.

Every answer earns carats on the meter, and every round ends with an appraisal certificate graded SI, VS, VVS or FL.
