About this app

Jagrati is a non-profit educational initiative led by the students of IIITDM Jabalpur. For over a decade, this movement has been driven by a simple belief: every child, regardless of background or circumstance, deserves access to learning, dignity, and the chance to dream bigger. Children from nearby villages come to learn, grow, and build confidence — guided by volunteers who dedicate just one hour a week to teach, mentor, and inspire. With time, that one hour becomes a foundation for stronger futures, healthier communities, and a cycle of empowerment that continues forward.

The Jagrati app is created to support this mission by bringing structure and simplicity to the grassroots teaching effort. It removes barriers in managing schedules, tracking progress, and organizing activities — so that volunteers can focus their energy where it matters most: inside the classroom, face to face with eager learners. It connects each part of this initiative into a single platform, allowing coordination and communication to become seamless.

Volunteers can join the initiative through the app and access features designed to guide them throughout their journey. Attendance becomes efficient and secure with integrated facial recognition technology, ensuring accuracy while saving time during sessions. The syllabus is neatly organized by subjects, classes, topics, and subtopics, helping every volunteer continue teaching from where the last left off. Homework and classroom activities can be recorded and reviewed, enabling deeper attention to a child’s progress, challenges, and growth.

The heart of Jagrati lies in the children — each one with unique curiosity, strengths, and dreams. To support them fully, the app helps track their learning journey over time. Volunteers can monitor progress, add observations, and provide feedback that contributes to a clearer understanding of how each child is developing. These insights help maintain continuity, even as different volunteers step into a classroom on different days.

Community is another pillar of Jagrati. Volunteers uplift one another too — through recognition systems, achievements, and shared stories of impact. The app offers a space to highlight accomplishments, post updates, and celebrate moments that remind everyone why this effort matters. It keeps the spirit of the initiative alive outside the classroom, strengthening motivation and nurturing a sense of shared purpose.

Scheduling is made simple as well. Volunteers can manage their availability, request changes, and ensure every teaching session is adequately supported. This avoids conflicts, minimizes confusion, and ensures that every group of students receives consistent attention. The app’s role-based system provides secure and appropriate access according to responsibilities, making administration smoother and more transparent.

Jagrati is more than a management tool — it is a reflection of the hope carried by hundreds of young volunteers who choose to give back. It ensures that the time they offer becomes as impactful as possible. It supports children who are eager to learn and eager to rise. It honors the communities that trust this initiative with their most valuable future.

Every feature in Jagrati exists because education can change lives. Every improvement in the app exists because even small efforts deserve strong support. And every update will continue to be guided by the same mission that began more than ten years ago within the classrooms of IIITDM Jabalpur: to spread light where it is needed and to make learning a shared gift.

With Jagrati, volunteers teach — and in the process, they learn too. They learn resilience. They learn empathy. They learn that change begins with a single step, a single class, a single hour. This app is built to make that step easier, that class smoother, and that hour more impactful than ever before.
