About this app

This app is built to complement the web version of the Mammal Diversity Database (MDD). MDD tracks the latest taxonomic changes to living and recently extinct (i.e., since ~1500 CE) species and higher taxa of mammals

This app is tailored for biologists, conservationists, researchers, and nature enthusiasts. It provides offline access to an updatable mammal database of taxonomic and biodiversity information. The Biodiversity Committee of the American Society of Mammalogists (ASM) compiles and maintains MDD.

• 100% OFFLINE DATA
Never worry about satellite signal or cellular reception. The database is packaged locally, offering immediate access to taxonomic records without internet dependencies.

• COMPREHENSIVE TAXONOMIC DATA
Access the status of 6,700+ recognized living and recently extinct mammal species, including:
- Valid binomial names and publication citations.
- Detailed nomenclatural histories containing over 50,000 synonymized names.
- Country, continental, and biogeographic realm distributions.
- Type localities and specimen documentation.

• ROBUST MULTI-CRITERIA SEARCH
Find exactly what you need with an advanced, multi-parameter search engine. Filter by order, family, genus, specific epithets, synonymies, or localized regions with instant responsive results.

• RESEARCH-READY CSV AND JSON EXPORTS
Filter by specific taxonomic groups, families, or search results, then export directly to standard CSV or JSON files

Use the MDD app for fieldwork, classroom instruction, and scientific writing. Download the MDD app today.
