HiddenScan helps you check a room for hidden cameras and unfamiliar devices before you settle in - in a hotel, a short-stay rental, a changing room or an office.
WHAT HIDDENSCAN DOES
Infrared (IR) check
Many night-vision cameras emit infrared light that your eyes cannot see but a phone camera can partly pick up. The IR check highlights likely infrared sources in the live view so you can take a closer look.
Camera and lens scan
Lenses reflect light back towards their source. Point your phone at a suspicious object and the lens scan looks for the small round reflection a lens gives back.
Wi-Fi review
Lists the devices responding on the Wi-Fi network you are connected to - including devices that answer without leaving a port open - and highlights the ones whose open ports look like a camera.
Scan history
Save any scan with a title and date, so you can keep a record per room or per stay.
GETTING THE BEST RESULT
- Dim the lights before an IR check. Infrared shows up best in the dark.
- Move slowly and hold the phone steady, roughly 10-30 cm from the object.
- Check the usual places: smoke detectors, air vents, alarm clocks, chargers, mirrors, decor.
- Use more than one method. IR, lens and Wi-Fi each catch different things.
WHAT IT CANNOT DO
HiddenScan is a detection aid, not a guarantee. It cannot see a camera that is switched off, one with no infrared emitter, or one that is not on the Wi-Fi network you are joined to. Treat a clear scan as one piece of information rather than proof, and contact local authorities if you believe you are being recorded.
