HIE Calculator is an offline educational and reference tool for clinicians and trainees. It helps you review the standard eligibility criteria for therapeutic hypothermia (cooling) in newborn infants with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), based on the 2024 American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) clinical report.
The app walks through the reference criteria:
- Gestational age 36 weeks or more
- Within 6 hours of birth
- (A) Evidence of peripartum hypoxia-ischemia (blood gas, Apgar score, need for resuscitation)
- (B) Evidence of moderate-to-severe encephalopathy on clinical examination
- (C) Optional amplitude-integrated EEG (aEEG) background pattern
It shows a clear, colour-coded educational summary along with the relevant AAP reference statements for borderline gestational age and timing. It works fully offline, requires no account, and collects no data.
