About this app

It's simple, but configurable tool. With built-in player and easy navigation.

You can record in high-quality with format that is the best for your needs.

MP4 uses advanced compression to achieve small size with keeping high quality.
WAV contains raw audio data, so it has the best quality but needs a lot of space.
FLAC files have quality of WAV file, but with just ~50% size.

Features:
★ Supported frequencies (Hz): 8000, 11025, 16000, 22050, 44100, 48000, 88200, 96000.
★ Simple to use, configuration is optional.
★ Formats: FLAC (default), WAV, AAC / MP4 / M4A.
★ Source selection: default, mic, unprocessed, etc.
★ Automatic date-based recording name (can be always changed).
★ Ability to pause recording.
★ Can be controlled from the notifications / lock screen (if device supports it).
★ Save on internal or external storage.
★ Built-in player.
★ Mono / stereo support.

How to:
*) Press big button with microphone to start recording.
*) Click 'stop' button when you want to finish recording. You can also make breaks in recording by clicking pause button.
*) Recording settings can be changed while playing, however some options will make recorder to finish current file and record audio to new file (because many formats can't change configuration mid-stream).
*) Recording can be played directly from the same screen or from the 'list' screen.
*) You can also share / open your recording in other apps by using 'more' button on the 'list' screen.

Reasonably good recorder. Records to FLAC, which is important. Does not show levels during recording so, while it allows setting mic gain, you're doing it blind. Also, at least on the Pixel 6a, it appears to compress the audio peaks (even when recording well below 0db...this could be the phone, though). A big problem, to me, is that the files are hidden in the filesystem so they can't be moved to a PC for processing directly; you have to post them first to Google Drive (for big files).

Yes, it works. But not quite sure why some features are implemented in a non professional way. E.g. it seems all I can get with flac is 16bit files. Why is there no support for 24 or even 32 bit? When showing the wave form in recording or replay, it just provides an uncommon visualization. Can we just leverage some simple things to show db or a scale so that we know whether it's close to clipping or not? Take a look at tascam or zoom recorders. See whether it gives more inspirations?

Does have all features I want from a good audio recorder, such as option to choose flac format and sample rate. I can't seem to find the files from either internal or external memory though, and file sizes aren't visible in the app, so I have no idea how much storage they currently use. They can be easily shared or opened with other apps but not file managers. I'd like to see this fixed to better manage storage use especially with large recordings.
