Maat Scan analyzes photos of people and returns a statistical score estimating the likelihood of AI generation or photo editing. Upload a portrait, profile photo, or headshot and the app returns results in seconds.

This service is built specifically for photos of people — not for landscapes, objects, or general image analysis.

— HOW IT WORKS —

Maat Scan scores each photo across five independent dimensions:

• Visual Impression — a Vision-Language Model evaluates overall naturalness and detects statistical patterns associated with AI-generated imagery.
• Skin Texture — measures micro-texture frequency to identify surfaces that are unnaturally smooth, a common signature of AI generation and heavy retouching.
• Edge Integrity — analyzes subject-to-background boundaries for compositing artifacts, blending errors, and inpainting seams.
• Facial Geometry — maps facial landmarks and checks proportions against normal distributions for real human faces.
• Image Metadata — inspects embedded EXIF data. Missing camera metadata or the presence of editing software tags shifts the overall assessment.

Each dimension produces its own indicator, combined into an overall score from 0 to 100. Scores closer to 100 suggest characteristics typical of unmodified photographs. Lower scores suggest stronger signs of AI generation or editing.

The score is a statistical reference — not a definitive verdict on whether a photo has been edited or AI-generated.

Standard — 200 scans per month. Scorecard downloads. Scan history with up to 200 saved thumbnail previews. CSV downloads.

Pro — 1,000 scans per month. Scorecard downloads. Scan history with up to 3,000 saved thumbnail previews. CSV downloads.

Credit Pack — Adds 100 scans to your account. Credits do not expire. This is not a subscription.

— BONUS SCANS —

Free users can earn additional scans by watching a short ad (+3 scans, up to 2 times per day) or by participating in the Label & Earn program (+3 scans per session, up to 2 times per day). Bonus scans expire at midnight UTC.

— SUBSCRIPTION TERMS —

Standard and Pro are auto-renewable monthly subscriptions.

• Payment is charged to your Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
• The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• Your Google Play account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the rate of the selected plan.
• You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time in Google Play → Subscriptions after purchase.
• No refund is provided for any unused portion of the current subscription period upon cancellation.
• Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when a subscription is purchased.

Credit Packs are one-time purchases and are not auto-renewable subscriptions.

— PRIVACY & DATA —

Images uploaded under the free plan and Credit Packs are processed and discarded immediately after analysis. They are not stored.

Images uploaded by Standard and Pro subscribers are stored as low-resolution thumbnails for scan history. Thumbnails are permanently deleted when the account is closed or the subscription ends. Maat Scan does not use uploaded images to train AI models or share them with third parties.
