About this app

The communication and safety app for people who go where the signal ends.

Horient keeps you connected to the people you travel with and reassures the people waiting at home — on the road, on the water, in the air, on the trail, or three states away at college. Private by design: your messages and live location are end-to-end encrypted, so not even we can read them.

STAY CONNECTED
• End-to-end encrypted messages, photos, and voice notes
• Group chats for your road trip, boat, flight group, or hiking team — with private lanes for 1:1 talk
• Voice & video calls, live camera sharing, and watch-together streams
• Garmin inReach integration for beyond-cellular check-ins

STAY SAFE
• One-tap SOS: alerts your chosen emergency contacts with your live position
• Stormglass: real-time typhoons, earthquakes, floods, and wildfires from official sources (USGS, GDACS, NASA) — with proximity alerts when one is near you
• Sentinel watches: inactivity alerts, overdue check-ins, and distance or speed conditions
• Live map with encrypted trails, so trusted friends can follow your trip

FOR FAMILIES TOO
Horient is also a family-safety app. Drop a pin on the school or dorm and get arrival alerts. See when a loved one's phone was last active even when they're too busy to text. Share a road trip with a link anyone can watch — no app needed. Set a Home Zone and sharing pauses by itself when they get home. Unlike other family trackers, locations are end-to-end encrypted — we couldn't sell them if we wanted to.

NAVIGATE
• Helm: a living journey view with real weather and flight-style HUD tapes
• Shore, marine, and aviation modes — the app adapts to how you travel
• Aircraft traffic (ADS-B), airport weather (METAR), sea marks, and hazard layers
• Waypoints with bearing, ETA, and cross-track steering guidance

AND BREATHE
• 12 built-in games for long trips and layovers — no connection needed
• Internet radio: thousands of stations, streamed straight to your device
• Community pins, polls, and a deal market for travelers
• An AI assistant that can manage your pins and answer questions about your account

PRIVACY, HONESTLY
No ads. No trackers. No data sales. Messages and live location are end-to-end encrypted — the server stores ciphertext it cannot read. Location sharing is per-friend and off by default.

Horient is not a replacement for official emergency services. Always carry certified safety equipment appropriate to your trip.

• Map info button explains place data; unmapped areas now say so
