Just purchased my first few Big Finish Audio titles. It was a perfect fit for me to listen to at work. The app worked well for me, downloaded the stories with no issues. There are section selections at least on the first story that I listened to. Like many others, I would love to be able to access the store and buy more from the app and to be able to possibly send feedback about the stories (all glowing and positive so far). The app is one of the largest on my phone given it is just acting as a reader, so I hope maybe there will be new features without adding to the size of the app.
Elegantly Simple. Works. I love it. Only one thing missing. You should be able to enable local folders to play as well, so it would be able to play the Big finish content that it "can't due to rights restrictions" (ie. Items not purchased directly from BF.) Or indeed any audio file. If it could do that it would be my primary music player! I agree with others in that I wish you could purchase from the app. Not a deal breaker though.
Good app for downloading your already purchased stories. It doesn't let you buy new stories from the web though, you still have to log in to the website for that, otherwise I would have given this app 5 stars. Another thing is there are no chapter marks, it just plays the audio as one long track, it doesnt divide into the seperate tracks like the cds do. Other than those two very small annoyances the app works perfectly. Thanks to Big Finish for keeping the Doctor alive during this long wait for season 10!
I love Big Finish so disappointed by limitations of app. It seems to be considered by Google Play Store as an book reader/library app. Preset questionnaire was thus not applicable to it being an audio drama player. Biggest frustration was not having a link back to Big Finish store to buy & download more dramas. I also missed the granularity of the individual cd tracks which made finding & revisiting plot lines easier. Please produce an upgraded version :-)
The radio dramas themselves are perfectly good, but the app sometimes inexplicably fails to download selected items. It seems to have more problems downloading larger files. If an item is selected accidentally there is no way to cancel the download, you just have to wait until it fails/succeeds, or to log out and then back in. At the present moment, after logging out and then back in, no stories are appearing in my account. Once it comes to listening to the dramas on your device, the app works well and the sound quality is excellent.
NOT ANDROID FRIENDLY! I download a title. Check it's ready in the device column. Come back to listen to it later and it's gone! This is happening all the time no matter what title I download. I'm uninstalling. I'm using it on an Samsung G7 running Android. It seems to work fine as an app on my friends iPad.
A bug was re-introduced due to some timey-wimey shenanigans.
I promptly sonic'd the problem away.
Bugs can be an annoying lot...
