HOW HUR USES THE ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE

Hur uses the Android Accessibility Service (AccessibilityService API) to provide its core blocking features. Hur cannot block anything without it. You enable it yourself during setup, and you can turn it off at any time in Android Settings > Accessibility > Hur.

Hur uses the Accessibility Service to:

◇ See which app is currently in the foreground, so that a blocked app, an app locked by Focus Mode, or an app that has used up its daily limit can be covered with a blocking screen.
◇ Read the web address in your browser's address bar, so porn sites and sites on your blocklist are blocked before they load.
◇ Read text shown on screen inside the apps you choose to filter (such as TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and X), so content matching your blocked keywords can be blocked.
◇ Detect when Hur is about to be uninstalled or switched off, so Uninstall Protection can hold while your commitment is still running.

How your data is handled:

◇ Everything above happens on your device, in real time. On-screen text and web addresses are compared against your blocklist and then discarded.
◇ Hur does not record, store or transmit your screen content, your keystrokes or your browsing history, to us or to anyone else.
◇ Hur never collects passwords, payment details or the contents of your messages.
◇ Accessibility Service data is never used for advertising and is never sold or shared.
