The overall experience has been great so far. However, it doesn't notify me on time to remind me to study my cards even though it has permission to display notification on my device. Its only when I open that app that the notification to study my cards appear, and it has already accumulated to a great amount. Edit: adding the widget worked. Thanks!

Hmmm - you *might* try adding the widget to your home screen. I will apologize that the notification subsystem is in general pretty terrible though - and I say that as someone partly responsible that hasn't had time to make it better yet. This may help tho https://github.com/ankidroid/Anki-Android/wiki/FAQ#why-dont-i-get-notifications

One of the very very rare completely free apps that really deserve the maximum stars. Since ages stable and unchanged. No ads, no pro mode, not every day a new useless feature or a brand new GUI, no rating begging, no hey did you know or anything annoying at all. It just works and works. Simple but effective. If just every app would be like this.

So glad you like it! I totally agree - truly free apps that truly do what you want are so rare, there are a few though - f-droid can be a good source. About all we beg for is crash reporting turned on and feature usage turned on (both default to off out of respect) so we can make it more stable and focus volunteer effort :-). Happy reviewing

After a steep but short learning curve, the app rewards with a robust and rich learning experience. Adding and manipulating cards becomes intuitive after a few days. Extremely flexible and adjustable. Thoroughly recommended. [the following comment no longer applies] My only gripe with anki is the lack of transparency when sync conflicts arise - some visibility on the problem cards or decks would be encouraging and not have me worrying that I've lost carefully crafted cards

Hi there! Glad you like it. An interesting point about sync conflicts, unfortunately we don't actually track enough information in the database / or exchange it in the sync protocol to know why there's a conflict. I can say that there is only conflict if you change templates or deck conf in certain ways. Everything else syncs fine.
