ABOUT THE DICTIONARY

The Online Dictionary of Occitan-Aran (DOA) is an easy-to-use reference tool. The information is aimed at the general public and is presented in an organized, clear, and accessible way.

It is part of the lexical corpus compiled in three standard works published by the Academy: the Dictionary of Aranese, the Vocabulary of Computing, and the Vocabulary of Winter Sports. In total, it contains 15,000 entries. It also includes the dictionary supplement published in 2022, with 500 additional entries.

The DOA is an evolution of these standard works, allowing it to adapt to the dynamic nature of the language, facilitating the process of updating and correcting, as well as incorporating new entries. In this sense, it will be gradually enriched with the rest of the linguistic resources published by the Academy that are still only available in printed or PDF format, and with the entries that are collected in the future.
