The goal of the KIESA project is to make digital, text-based counseling services accessible to people who rely on simple language. Commissioned by the Federal Association of Caritas Children and Youth Services (Bundesverband Kinder- und Jugendhilfe e.V.), a prototype was developed in the fall of 2023. During the three-year project phase, which runs until 2027, it will be implemented in cooperation with the same client. Translating complex counseling content into simple language represents an important step toward inclusive and accessible counseling services.
Standards for the use of simple language form the basis of the development. Visual and language-based elements to address as many sensory levels as possible are also being considered in the project. The plan is to test the various functions of the AI assistant with young people with disabilities. This will provide a realistic insight into the needs and potential of such an AI assistant.
