AN HONEST NOTE

Signal readings come from your phone's WiFi hardware, so absolute values vary between devices — trends and comparisons are where the meter shines. The heatmap reflects the readings you take as you walk. Android requires the location permission for WiFi scanning; this app uses it for scanning and the features described here.

this is one of the few apps that actually does what it states. when I look for signal strength I look for the decibel reading. this will give me a better indication how strong the signal is. next, it gives you a rough calculations on the distance and the speed that you're achieving at based on that distance. there are a few other settings that I have not played with. however, once I do I will be back.

Well...I've learned a few more wavelength terms like, dBm and asu. I've learned exactly what distance (in feet/inches) the signal has to travel to get to me. However...I don't have alot to go on (proof) as I'm writing this review. I need more time, I think, to discern exactly what it is that I need to strengthen and secure my Wi-Fi signal. I'm probably going to be heading towards, 'PVN'. I love a secure (corporate) network.

"Distance" will always be useless while it's based on signal strength. That reading should be removed until a method using triangulation and geometry is implemented. I had to split my signal because the security cams require 2.4G. But the app will only read the 5G band the phone uses. The ability to switch bands within the app would cause me to pay for it.
