He obtained his Bachelor's degree from the College of Science at King Saud University in Riyadh in 1407 AH (1987 AD). He obtained his Master's degree from Southern Illinois University in 1990, and his PhD in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis, USA, in 1995. He joined Al Rajhi Bank in 1995 as a Chief Advisor, and in 1998 he became the Director of the Research and Development Center in the bank's Shariah Group. He joined the Islamic Development Bank Group in late 1425 AH (2004 AD). He currently works as the Deputy Director of the Islamic Research and Training Institute.
