You pick up your phone for a minute to check a message. Half an hour later, you're still scrolling through your feed and can't remember why you picked it up.
Intent creates a pause between the urge to open an app and the action itself.
HOW IT WORKS
You choose the apps that most often distract you. When you open such an app, Intent displays a pause screen with a short task—a math problem or an English word. Complete the task and gain access for the time you set.
When the time expires, the pause screen reappears—even if you're still in the app. Intent doesn't just stop you at the entrance; it monitors the time you've allotted for yourself.
HOW INTENT IS DIFFERENT
Most blockers only stop you when you open them. After that, you can sit there as long as you like. Intent respects the limit you set and will remind you of it in due time.
Instead of wasted time, you get a short, useful action. Thinking through a mental example or translating a word takes a few seconds, but that's enough to notice what you're doing.
YOU DECIDE
Which apps to limit. How many tasks to complete before logging in—from one to ten. How many minutes of access. Math or English, and at what difficulty level.
Intent doesn't block anything behind your back and doesn't make decisions for you.
PRIVACY
Intent only sees which app is open. It doesn't read messages, passwords, or screen contents.
The app doesn't have internet access—it physically can't send anything anywhere. All data remains on your phone.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Intent requires accessibility permissions and permission to show the pause screen over other apps. The app will explain each setup step.
On Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, and Vivo phones, you'll also need to allow autostart—otherwise, the system will pause Intent in the background.
You have a choice between an impulse and an action.
Take a break from social media. Complete a short task and access it mindfully.
