About this game

**INWARD** is a 2D narrative-driven platformer that explores emotional exploration with profound sensitivity, addressing adolescent mental health.

Join Mateo, a 17-year-old who awakens trapped inside his own mind. The outside world keeps turning, but he must navigate an inner universe made of memories, fears, and small lights that still refuse to go out. To find his way back, Mateo must traverse five worlds representing different emotional states, confront his own shadow, and learn a vital lesson: **asking for help is not giving up**.

### **MAIN FEATURES**

* **Expressive and Emotional Movement:** Control Mateo with fluid, classic platforming mechanics (double jump, wall bounce, dash). Directly experience how mental state alters physics: anxiety quickens his steps, while depression makes him feel heavy.

* **Focus as a Resource:** Performing advanced movements consumes Focus sparks (your mental breath). You must learn to walk calmly, breathe, and manage your energy to overcome the obstacles in your path.

* **Unconventional Combat:** In INWARD, there are no weapons or violence. Your enemies are manifestations of difficult emotions such as anxiety (the Echoes), confusion (the Voices), and depression (the Weights). Protect yourself with conceptual power-ups like the "Calm Heartbeat," "Deep Sigh," or the "Breath Shield."

* **Fragments of Identity:** Explore the environments to recover the broken pieces of Mateo's identity. Equip them in your inventory to customize your visual appearance, your stamina, and your abilities.

* * **Rest and Refuge Points:** Rest on Benches or activate Shrines to deposit your "Glimmers of Insight" (the currency for your moments of clarity), save your progress, read lost journal pages, and interact with the "Kind Echo."

* **A Fall Accompanied:** In INWARD, there is no "Game Over" frustration. If your breath runs out or you fall into the abyss, Mateo will simply collapse to his knees and return to his last safe Shrine to take a deep breath and calmly try again.

* **Atmospheric Visuals and Sound:** Enjoy captivating visuals with 2.5D backgrounds and multi-layered parallax, volumetric fog, and a beautiful original soundtrack featuring acoustic guitar melodies that will accompany you on this journey of introspection.

### **ABOUT SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY**
Developed as a project with a strong focus on raising awareness about mental health, INWARD seeks to empathize with the player and open a window for conversation and understanding about the emotional challenges of today's youth.
