About this game

Be President is a satirical political life simulator and election strategy game. You start at 24 with no money, no name and a county seat to run for. You finish — decades later — as President of the United States, or as a state senator nobody can quite place, or considerably earlier than either.

One life, one career, one shot at the Oval Office. Every year you choose a handful of actions, then the year happens to you.

★ A POLITICAL CAREER SIMULATOR WITH SIX PATHS
Executive, Legislative, Legal, Finance, Law Enforcement or Education. Every career ends in the White House, and each takes a different kind of politician to survive. You cannot skip rungs. Terms have to be served, seats have to be held, and the only way to run for something bigger is to risk what you already have.

★ ELECTIONS THAT ARE ACTUALLY MODELLED
This is an election simulator, not a coin flip. Each race is a vote-share forecast: candidate quality, incumbency, campaign money with diminishing returns, the national mood that year, and an honest margin of error. Before you file, the game shows you the whole calculation — what is helping, what is costing you, and your true chance of winning. Primaries run on fervour and party standing. General elections run on approval. Debate first if you think you can move the number.

★ A LIFE SIM, NOT JUST A POLITICS GAME
Partners with their own jobs and temperaments. Children who grow up and form opinions. Parents, siblings, friends, allies and enemies who remember everything. More than fifty things to do with the people in your life — and none of them cost you a turn.

★ MONEY
An index fund, a crypto coin named after your cousin, a racehorse, an island. Eighteen possessions, nine investments and four kinds of loan, each with upkeep and the occasional story.

★ THE UNFORTUNATE ACCIDENTS DIVISION
Rivals are a problem with several solutions. Fund their primary opponent. Have them audited. Promote them somewhere useless. Or arrange something more permanent — and spend the rest of your career wondering who is going to talk. Dark political satire, played entirely for laughs: a falling piano with a probability attached.

★ DYNASTY
When a life ends you get an obituary, a legacy score and a title. If you left a child, play on as them — with the estate after tax, the family name, and every grudge your parent earned.
