About this app

Tallk is an application resulting from a collaboration between Samsung and the Luzón Foundation. Developed by Irisbond using its eye-tracking technology, it's a tool designed to support basic communication and interaction with the environment for people with reduced mobility and/or speech impairments. It's available for compatible Samsung Galaxy tablets.

Thanks to Tallk, you can use your eyes to type using a predictive virtual keyboard and have what you've typed spoken aloud. For greater ease of use and communication, the application allows you to add user-defined phrases to its collection, enabling quick and easy access and verbalization at any time. The application also saves a history of used phrases, allowing users to recall them whenever they wish. The keyboard also allows interaction with Samsung's AI-powered voice assistant, Bixby, to handle various requests and control compatible SmartThings smart home devices.

How does it work? Tallk's eye-tracking technology uses the tablet's camera to locate your pupils and certain characteristic points on your face. Then, through a series of algorithms and AI, the software translates your eye movements into approximate movements on the screen to access a virtual keyboard and speak the text you enter. Eye-tracking requires identifying characteristic points on your face, so your entire face must be visible to use the app.

Recommendations before using Tallk: You will need a suitable stand to ensure the device remains stable at all times for proper positioning in front of the compatible Samsung Galaxy tablet and for using the Tallk app. Recommended stands are listed at the end of this description. The app can be used with glasses, but eye tracking may not be optimal due to reflections or occlusions on the lenses or frames. Once you open Tallk, the app will provide you with the necessary recommendations and instructions for use.
