Statement regarding the determination of the date of the elections:

The next parliamentary election in Hungary is due in the spring of 2026. The date of the elections is set by the current President of the Republic, taking into account the Basic Law and Article XXXVI of 2013 on the electoral procedure. the provisions of the law. (Legal reference: Act XXXVI of 2013 on the electoral procedure, § 3 and § 6, https://njt.hu/jogszabaly/2013-36-00-00)
According to the law, parliamentary elections must be held in the year of the general election of the parliament, in April or May. The polling day must be announced at least 70 days before the election. (The announcement usually takes place 70-90 days before the election.)
Based on previous practices, the election is expected to take place in April 2026, on a Sunday.
